What we treat and how
Everyone's path is different, but a lot of what brings LGBTQ+ folks to Thrive looks something like this. If some of it hits close to home, you are exactly who we built this for.
- Worry or panic that shows up out of nowhere
- Low mood, exhaustion, or losing interest
- The weight of moving through a world that is not always safe
In affirming groups and one-on-one therapy, you learn real ways to steady anxiety and lift low mood, and process the minority stress underneath, with people who get it.
- Stress about being fully seen as who you are
- Family, faith, or workplaces that feel unsafe
- Questioning, exploring, or growing into yourself
Identity-affirming groups give you room to explore who you are, build confidence, and find belonging alongside people walking a similar path.
- Pulling away and keeping to yourself
- Feeling like no one around you truly understands
- Relationships or chosen family that feel strained
Small peer groups help you reconnect at your own pace, practice opening up somewhere safe, and build the community that makes healing possible.
- Numbing out or avoiding how you feel
- Self-harm or thoughts of suicide
- Habits that feel out of your control
Our clinicians help you build healthier ways to cope, work through what is underneath, and put a real safety plan in place, with affirming peers alongside you.
Healing is easier with
people who get it
Healing happens faster when you are not doing it alone. Our small peer groups bring together people who share what you are going through, so you build coping skills, connection, and confidence with people who truly get it.
LGBTQ+ young adult groups
Find your people in the same season of life, in a space that affirms your identity while you build coping skills.
Trans and nonbinary groups
Affirming support with people who understand gender, transition, and the everyday realities you are navigating.
Coming out and identity groups
Explore identity, belonging, and self-acceptance alongside people walking a similar path.
Anxiety and depression groups
Work through anxiety, low mood, and minority stress with peers who get it, and tools that hold up day to day.
Trauma and PTSD groups
Work through what the past left behind and steady yourself again, alongside people who understand what it takes.
Relationships and connection groups
Build the confidence for healthier relationships, chosen family, and community that supports you.
Questions we
hear a lot
Answers about our virtual Intensive Outpatient Program, insurance, scheduling, and what care actually looks like day to day.
How long is the program?
Most people are with us for 8 to 10 weeks. Your exact length of stay depends on how your treatment is going, and your therapist will help you plan the right time to step down rather than setting an arbitrary end date.
What does a typical week look like?
You will have 10+ hours of treatment a week. Groups run on weeknight evenings, 6:00 to 7:30pm and 7:45 to 9:15pm, alongside individual therapy and family sessions. Evening scheduling is deliberate, so you can keep work, school, and family going while you get real treatment.
Is this program right for me?
It is built for LGBTQ+ adults who need more than weekly therapy but do not need inpatient care. If anxiety, depression, trauma, or the weight of moving through an unwelcoming world is affecting your day to day, this is the level of support that fits.
Do you take my insurance?
We work with commercial insurance plans in every state we serve, and we accept TriCare. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare. Our admissions team verifies your benefits before you start, so you know what to expect rather than being surprised later.
Which states do you serve?
Florida, California, Arizona, Texas, Indiana, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
How do groups work, and who is in them?
Groups are small, usually 10 to 13 people, and you stay with the same group throughout. In affirming cohorts that means the same faces every session, so you can be fully yourself without re-explaining who you are to a new room each week.
Will I have the same therapist the whole time?
Yes. The same therapist stays with you from pre-admission through intake, groups, individual sessions, and family work. You are not handed between clinicians or repeating your story to someone new, so nothing gets lost along the way.
What happens after I finish the program?
You do not just get discharged. You can step down into outpatient care with us and join our alumni program, so support tapers gradually before you transition back to your own therapist.
How does medication work?
We work alongside your own psychiatrist and primary care provider as one coordinated team, so everyone treating you is working from the same picture. If you do not have a psychiatrist, we will refer you to one.
Is everything virtual?
Yes, the program is fully virtual, which is what makes evening scheduling and consistent attendance realistic. Where it is available, we can also arrange in-person outpatient support.
