FAQs

Your questions answered

What about patients in active crisis?

Thrive is a step-down program, not crisis stabilization. Patients who need 24/7 medical or psychiatric supervision should stay in your care until they are stable, and can be referred to us then. For a crisis, call or text 988. For immediate danger, call 911.

Does a patient need to be admitted before being referred?

No. A patient seen in the emergency department who does not need admission can be referred to Thrive directly once they are stable.

Who does Thrive treat?

Adults 18 and older in Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas, living with depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, OCD and more. If you are not sure someone is a fit, our admissions team can help.

How quickly can a patient start after discharge?

Across 28 admissions from February to September 2026, the median time from referral to IOP admission was 8 days. Refer before the discharge date and we will work toward a start that follows it closely.

Is Thrive in network with insurance?

Thrive is in network with most major commercial plans and TRICARE. We verify benefits before the first session, so there are no coverage surprises. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare.

How do I make a referral?

Use our secure online form or call our nationwide admissions line, (561) 203-6085, open 24/7. You can also fax referrals to (949) 695-4744. Have the patient's name, date of birth, contact details and insurance ready, plus a short note on what they need.

What if Thrive is not the right fit?

If IOP is not the right level of care, we help find the next step, so care does not fall through.

What happens if a patient's condition worsens during treatment?

They are never on their own. Our 24/7 crisis line is available throughout treatment, and their treatment team reassesses the level of care. If they need more support than IOP, we help arrange it.

Can my patient keep their psychiatrist?

Yes. Their Thrive provider coordinates with their outside care team, including their primary care provider and psychiatrist, to keep medications and treatment in step.
