Does insurance cover virtual IOP?
Usually, yes. Most commercial insurance plans cover a virtual intensive outpatient program (IOP) as an outpatient mental health benefit, the same way they cover in-person IOP. What you pay depends on your plan, so our admissions team checks your benefits for free before you start.
Which insurance plans does Thrive accept?
We work with most major commercial plans, including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare and Optum, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Anthem, Oscar and TRICARE. Networks vary by plan and by state, so we confirm your exact coverage before you start.
Do you accept Medicaid or Medicare?
Not at this time. If you have Medicaid or Medicare, our admissions team can point you toward programs that accept it.
How much does virtual IOP cost with insurance?
It depends on your plan: your deductible, your copay or coinsurance for intensive outpatient care, and your out-of-pocket maximum. We check all three and tell you your expected cost in plain numbers before your first session.
Can I pay for IOP without insurance?
Yes. You can pay for care yourself instead of using insurance. You get a written Good Faith Estimate before care begins, and you can ask us about our scholarship program. If you self-pay first and ask your insurer to reimburse you later, we cannot promise they will cover it.
What if Thrive is out of network with my plan?
We check your out-of-network benefits and tell you what care would cost. If it is not a fit, we help you find a program that is.
Do I need prior authorization for IOP?
Many plans require it for intensive outpatient care. Our team requests and tracks it for you as part of admission, so you do not have to call your insurer.
How is my insurance billed?
We bill your insurer directly, so you do not pay up front and claim it back. After your insurer processes a claim, you are billed only for your share, such as a deductible, copay or coinsurance. We go over those costs with you before your first session.
Who can join Thrive's virtual IOP?
Adults 18 and older who are in Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina or Texas during their sessions. A short assessment with our admissions team confirms IOP is the right level of care for you. Thrive is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency.
